A Theresienstadt Bracelet
Thursday, May 8 at 11 am
We are kicking off the festivities with a powerful virtual lecture, A Theresienstadt Bracelet. In this talk, Claudia Nahson, Morris & Eva Senior Curator, shares the hidden meanings of a unique charm bracelet in the Jewish Museum collection assembled by Holocaust survivor Greta Perlman (1904–1975) in Theresienstadt, a camp-ghetto in the former Czechoslovakia that housed prisoners between 1941 and 1945.

Jim Dine: Hiroshima
Wednesday, May 15 at 3 pm
Recently acquired by the Museum, Dine’s Hiroshima series (1982–83) highlights the artist’s politically charged work and his endeavors to support anti-nuclear protests. The 11 works evoke the annihilation and despair unleashed by the atomic bombs the United States dropped in 1945 on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, at the end of World War II. This lecture will be led by Mason Klein, Senior Curator.

Combating Hate through Art
Tuesday, May 21 at 3 pm
Why use art to combat hate? Works of art have the power to express the stark reality and the complexity of prejudice, discrimination, and intolerance in experiential ways. By looking at and discussing works of art that address these disturbing concepts, we can often find ways to recognize and articulate the harm caused by toxic ideas. Combating Hate Through Art will be led by Nelly Benedek, Deputy Director, Education and Programs.
